Brickout is a free browser arcade game that takes the classic Breakout formula and elevates it with five hand-designed levels, seven power-ups, a combo scoring system, and satisfying modern visual effects. Built entirely in code with zero external assets, every glowing brick, golden ball, and particle burst is rendered procedurally — and it looks stunning.

How It Works

You control a paddle at the bottom of the playfield, bouncing a golden ball upward to smash colored bricks. Clear every brick to advance to the next level. Three brick types keep things interesting — normal bricks go down in one hit, tough silver bricks take two, and unbreakable gold bricks must be navigated around. Chain consecutive breaks to trigger score multipliers that stack up fast.

Lose the ball off the bottom and you lose a life. Three lives per run, with powerups helping you survive longer and score higher.

5 Levels

Wall, Pyramid, Castle, Checkerboard, and Gauntlet — each with a distinct layout that demands a different approach. The Gauntlet level procedurally generates a new layout every visit, keeping the game fresh on every replay. Levels loop with increasing ball speed each cycle.
