Tower of Hanoi — The Classic Mathematical Puzzle Game
Tower of Hanoi is a free browser puzzle game based on one of the most elegant mathematical challenges ever devised. Three pegs, a stack of colourful disks, and one deceptively simple rule — can you move the entire stack from one peg to another without ever placing a larger disk on top of a smaller one?
How It Works
The game starts with up to seven disks stacked in pyramid order on the leftmost peg — largest at the bottom, smallest on top. Your goal is to move the entire stack to the rightmost peg. The rules are strict: you can only move one disk at a time, and you can never place a larger disk on top of a smaller one. Click a peg to lift its top disk, then click a destination peg to place it.
The minimum number of moves needed is shown upfront — for 7 disks that is 127. Every move is counted in real time, and when you finish the game celebrates with “Solved with X moves!” The challenge is not just to solve it, but to solve it in as few moves as possible.

Who Is It For?
Tower of Hanoi is for puzzle lovers, students, and curious minds of all ages. It is a staple of computer science education — the puzzle perfectly illustrates recursive thinking and exponential complexity — but it is equally enjoyable as a pure logic challenge. Younger players can start with 3 or 4 disks, while experienced puzzlers can push for a perfect 7-disk solution.
If you enjoy brain teasers, logic puzzles, or classic mathematical games, Tower of Hanoi is a timeless challenge that never gets old.
